Senior Spatial / AI-Ready Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Spatial / AI-Ready Engineer to join our team and drive the development of next-generation geospatial data solutions. This role will focus on designing and building scalable, automated spatial data pipelines while ensuring operational excellence and maintaining high-quality standards across geospatial systems and workflows. The ideal candidate combines strong geospatial expertise with a deep commitment to robust data engineering practices.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and optimize robust automated spatial data engineering pipelines that transform and integrate spatial and non-spatial data sources into map databases and downstream products.

• Build scalable and efficient workflows for data ingestion, processing, transformation, and integration.

• Monitor, troubleshoot, and continuously improve data conversions, bulk updates, and system performance.

• Implement monitoring frameworks, checks, alerts, and operational metrics to improve data quality and system reliability.

• Establish reusable patterns, coding standards, validation frameworks, and operational best practices.

• Ensure high data quality and consistency through automated validation and quality assurance processes.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including GIS specialists, engineers, and product teams to deliver scalable solutions.

• Apply strong spatial thinking and problem-solving methodologies to address complex geospatial challenges.

• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and technical innovation across the organization.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in GIS, Geospatial Science, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).

• Strong understanding of spatial data concepts, data ingestion patterns, and geospatial problem-solving methodologies.

• Hands-on experience with FME, SQL, PostgreSQL/PostGIS, and GIS platforms like QGIS or ArcGIS.

• Proven experience designing and developing data engineering pipelines and ETL workflows.

• Experience working with both spatial and non-spatial data transformation and integration.

• Strong understanding of data quality practices, validation frameworks, and operational excellence principles.

• Ability to troubleshoot complex systems and optimize performance and scalability.

• Excellent analytical, communication, and collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Python programming or general scripting experience for automation and data processing.

• Experience with large-scale mapping platforms and geospatial databases.

• Familiarity with cloud technologies and scalable data platforms.

• Experience with workflow automation and software engineering best practices.

• Knowledge of CI/CD processes and version control tools.
